Installation
Run a single Aether node with Docker or from source.
Set the root access key and a long random secret, then start it:
git clone https://github.com/aitoncumbi/Aeather.git && cd Aeather
cp .env.example .env # set the root access key and a long random secret
docker compose up -dcompose.yaml builds the image and keeps data in a named volume. It publishes
the S3 API on port 9000, and the admin API, web console and metrics on the
host's loopback interface only (127.0.0.1:9001). The image runs as a non-root
user, has a health check, and shuts down cleanly on docker stop.
Run the CLI inside the container:
docker compose exec aether aether statusThe S3 API listens on port 9000 and the admin API on 127.0.0.1:9001.
The root key set here can do everything. Keep it for administration and give each application its own key: see Access keys.
Next steps
- Connect a client and create your first bucket.
- Serve the S3 API over HTTPS.
- Review the configuration: every setting can come from
aether.tomlor the environment.
